Lake Trasimeno
Camping Badiaccia is situated on the shore of the Trasimeno Lake, the lake of Umbria, which name, according to the legend, derived from Trasimeno, son of God Turreno, who met Nymph Agilla during a stay in this area and fell in love with her at first sight. But since it was not possible for the son of a God to get married with a nymph, this unhappiness led him to death. Lake Trasimeno has always been contested for its strategic position and importance, for its beauty, for the richness of its water and of its land, the tradition of the fishermen blends in with those of the farmers. In this perennial borderland, huge armies have waged battles across the plains and hills, nefarious traps have been set and sprung, and bands of adventurers have raged and railed.
Lake Trasimeno is the fourth largest lake on the Italian peninsula, it is situated on 258 meters above the sea-level, it is of alluvial origin and has a surface area of 128 km2. Today Lake Trasimeno offers an uncontaminated landscape where you can admire the peace and the beauty of Perugino’s Paintings, the interesting history of Hannibal’s Battles, the centuries of history carved and sculpted in its castles and towers, the faith of numerous sanctuaries, the art, the popular traditions and folklore.
